Look Again Supergraphics Festival

PROJECT #3

In June 2024, Look Again Newhaven transformed blank walls and neglected streets into vibrant spaces of colour and creativity during a month-long celebration that featured events, workshops, walks, and community gatherings across multiple locations in the East Sussex port town.

At the centre of the festival was a series of large-scale public artworks created by 13 specially commissioned artists including—Amber Elise, Annie Frost Nicholson, Anthony Burrill, Bec Dennison, Dave Bain, Lee Eelus, Ellie Fryer, Gary Stranger, Paris 68 Redux, Paul Farrell, See Creatures, Supermundane, and Survival Techniques—whose diverse murals, reflecting the community, landscape, nature, and history of Newhaven, were permanently displayed throughout the town.

In addition to the public mural programme, a colourful series of ‘paste-up’ artworks, created by local, regional, and national artists, was exhibited across the town and at Charleston in Lewes; these paste-ups, rooted in the global street art movement, traditionally allowed artists to communicate their message to a wide audience through unsanctioned public spaces.

The murals are all still in place, so enjoy the trail when you visit the town. You can download the map via the link below.

Look At This Print Festival

PROJECT #2

Look at This: The Phoenix Festival of Printmaking was a month-long celebration of contemporary printmaking that showcased a meticulously curated exhibition of work by leading designers, artists, and illustrators. These creative professionals produced prints across a wide range of disciplines, each piece reflecting innovative techniques and distinctive styles.

During the festival, visitors were treated to an inspiring display of visual storytelling and technical mastery. The diverse collection of prints not only highlighted the creative spirit of the artists but also celebrated the rich history and evolution of the printmaking medium.

Throughout its run, the event fostered a vibrant community of art enthusiasts and professionals, offering numerous opportunities for engaging discussions, workshops, and networking sessions that enriched the experience for everyone involved.

PROJECT #1

Festival of Belonging

In 2018 we worked with the Newhaven Enterprise Zone and artist Morag Myerscough to programme a day of music, workshops and events based around the artists Belonging Bandstand. The bandstand toured the south coast, with each town contributing to the artwork by creating their own messages and signs.

Wave Leisure allowed us to use the forecourt of the Newhaven Fort, ad the result was a wildly popular and completely sold out day of high quality programming.
